Less material in crown caps

Take a look at the inside of a crown cap: sealing compounds from our ACTEGA division make it possible to reduce the amount of steel used per cap by 0.3 g.

That may not sound like much. But with around 300 billion crown caps produced worldwide each year, it adds up to  a potential saving of about 90,000 metric tons of steel—roughly the weight of nine Eiffel Towers. Many beverage fillers have already switched to this technology.

Reliable wind energy

When green electricity flows from your socket, innovative insulation materials from our ELANTAS division help make it possible. They enable the world’s largest offshore wind turbines to generate power efficiently and reliable for decades.

The rotor blades of these turbines are around 100 meters long, roughly the size of a jumbo jet. A single rotation can generate as much energy as an average household uses in two days. Our products withstand the extreme electrical stress with the turbines' insulation systems, helping ensure long-term performance.

Metallic coatings and smart mobility

Do you drive a car with a metallic finish? Autonomous driving relies on radar sensors, but under conventional metallic coatings, these sensors would typically not function reliably.

Our ECKART division developed a solution to address this challenge, becoming the first effect pigment manufacturer worldwide to do so. It is a forward-looking innovation, because sensors are being used in more and more products: in cars, robot vacuum cleaners, smartphones, and many other applications.

Almost all of our divisions contribute solutions for electric vehicles that help make e-mobility more sustainable.
