ALTANA is a group of companies with four divisions—BYK, ECKART, ELANTAS, and ACTEGA—each of which holds a leading position in its respective market. Our solutions enable, for example, the recycling of packaging, make battery production more efficient, and help ensure that the world’s largest wind turbines can generate green electricity for decades.
With more than 8,000 employees worldwide, the ALTANA Group generated sales of over 3 billion euros in 2025. Of this, approximately 7 percent is invested in research and development each year. This makes ALTANA one of the most innovative, fastest-growing, and most profitable chemical companies worldwide.

BYK is the largest division within the ALTANA Group. Here, we develop innovative additives as well as measurement and testing instruments that improve material properties, production processes, and application quality. BYK’s solutions are used in coatings, plastics, printing inks, adhesives, and other industrial applications. BYK employs more than 2,500 people worldwide.
ELANTAS
ELANTAS is a leading manufacturer of insulation and protective materials for the electrical and electronics industry. Its portfolio includes coatings, resins, adhesives, and flexible insulation materials for electrical and electronic applications. ELANTAS combines high-quality products with customized solutions and comprehensive services. ELANTAS employs more than 2,000 people worldwide.
ECKART
ECKART is our leading international manufacturer of metallic and pearlescent pigments as well as metallic printing inks. Its products are used in numerous industries, including paints and coatings, plastics, printing, cosmetics, and functional applications. Intensive research and development activities, as well as a strong focus on customer needs, characterize the product portfolio. ECKART employs approximately 1,700 people worldwide.
ACTEGA
ACTEGA develops and manufactures specialty coatings, printing inks, adhesives, and sealants with a focus on packaging, printing, and healthcare applications. The company focuses on technically sophisticated solutions and high safety standards, particularly for regulated markets. A global production network enables close collaboration with customers worldwide. ACTEGA employs more than 1,300 people worldwide.

The holding company is the strategic center of an internationally successful specialty chemicals group. It shapes the foundations for innovation, growth, and sustainable success worldwide, from strategy and governance to finance, legal affairs, and communications.
ALTANA Management Services
ALTANA Management Services supports all divisions of the ALTANA Group with central services—from IT, procurement, and HR to accounting as well as process and project management.
