Making battery production more efficient

The future of energy supply depends largely on high‑performance batteries. BYK develops specialty additives that make the production of lithium‑ion and solid‑state battery cells more efficient and energy‑saving.

Our solutions optimize manufacturing processes, enhance cell performance, and make an important contribution to energy storage, from electromobility to stationary applications.

Rethinking wind energy

Wind energy is a key pillar of the global energy transition. At BYK, you work on solutions that actively drive this development.

As the world’s first specialty chemicals manufacturer, BYK has developed a certified additive that can be used by wind turbine manufacturers in glass fiber–reinforced epoxy resin systems without additional testing.

Rotor blades are typically made of glass fiber–reinforced plastics and often weigh more than four tons each. As wind turbines continue to grow larger and more powerful, material requirements increase accordingly.

Turning perception into science

The human eye can distinguish around ten million shades of color. At the same time, color perception is highly subjective—shaped by lighting conditions, surrounding colors, and viewing angle. Metallic colors in particular change their appearance depending on how they are seen.

For quality assurance, customers in the coatings, plastics, automotive, construction, and materials industries have relied on BYK measuring instruments for decades. They measure color, gloss, surface quality, and physical properties precisely and reproducibly. This creates comparability where the human eye reaches its limits.
